Some people are just plain mean when they travel. I’ve seen tantrums thrown and toys tossed just because a tourist didn’t want to pay an extra dollar on the price of a souvenir. Get over it people: a) it’s not worth the damage to your blood pressure and b) you come across as pathetic to the local people. Sure, as a tourist, particularly in third world countries you will end up paying more than a local but frankly, that happens at home too. If I live in a city, I can get a cheap monthly pass for the local bus service. If you are just passing through, you are unlikely to use that ticket and instead you will pay more than I do for single trips. Is that a rip-off? I don’t think so.
